How To Stay Productive At Home During COVID-19 Pandemic

So, are you stuck on how well you can manage your work from home? Well, the great news is that you have come to the right place. I have been working from home since last year. I have a whole lot of suggestions for you to stay productive during these difficult times.

COVID-19 pandemic has tremendously affected the lives of millions and has brought an extreme change in lifestyle patterns. We all are going through tough times, and for many, it is even worst. Working from home has undoubtedly become the need of the hour. Most of the people are struggling to strike a balance between personal and professional life; online work from home has become a concern for many. Don’t worry; I have got your back as I’m pretty sure to help you find your way to manage work from home.

Right from house cleaning to pet-care, from taking care of the family to managing the groceries, it tends to get tricky if you have veggies on one table and files on the other.

In among endless chores of everyday life, it’s natural to lose your mind sometimes. Especially with the added stress of the current scenario, it is not everybody’s cup of tea to get comfortable overnight with the changing lifestyle.

Getting distracted is easy, but staying focused when working from home can be quite challenging. But it is not rocket science after all, with a dose of willingness, discipline, and dedication, you shall sail through like a pro.

Follow these steps to stay productive when working at home during the pandemic-

Plan a day prior

Diary to plan days

Planning in advance always helps. Make a list of tasks a day before so that you are well prepared for the day ahead. It does not only save you enough time but also helps you work efficiently.

If you are like me and you tend to forget things, then use notepad, excel or even write it in a diary to stay organized. I use the notepad on my phone as its handy and I can make quick changes to it as per the sudden changes in the plan.

Find Your comfortable space/ corner

a comfortable space to work

Unlike corporate offices, you have the privilege to decide your working space when you are working remotely. Pick a spot where there is neither the unwanted noise and nor any disturbance.

I prefer sitting next to my balcony window and its in the extreme corner in my dining room. Try to hunt for a place which is somewhere little away from the kitchen and the bedroom, as you would not want to get up every 20minutes to nibble something or to go and lie on the bed.

Make your working space comfortable

One of the best ways to stay motivated is to surround yourself with positivity and good energies. Comfort makes it convenient to work. Add some cushions for the backrest, a bottle of water to keep you hydrated, hang in some motivational posters, stick photos, use terrariums, or even some fairy lights to create the ambience as per your likes and preferences.

Fix your working hours

It is crucial to have fixed working hours and schedule everything for a disciplined working atmosphere. This way, you can have a systematic working atmosphere without making you work 24*7 and will also help you to have enough time for yourself and family.

Wear your comfortable outfit

Whatever makes you feel confident, comfortable and fabulous, just wear it and kick start your day. Mostly I am in my t-shirts and shorts, but sometimes I feel like getting dressed in my fashionable outfits in lipstick and all required drama just to add some element to my day.

Do not step away from adding some fun to your dressing style, because we do not know when our favourite dresses are going to come out from the wardrobe

Use Table-Chair instead of the bed

From my personal experience, I want to share the fact that no matter how hard you try to stay focused on bed and work, it still would make you lazy and might distract you too, which ends up in wasting a lot of time. Table-chair whereas it is the best way to have in your working space, it keeps you active and helps in concentration without hurting your back for long.

Do not entertain unnecessary things while working

Be it a call, message or even social media platforms, stay strict and do not give attention to things that are not important, or which you can attend later. Inform your friends and family to call you after a specific time, and once they get used to your schedule, you will find it easier to manage your social life.

We all are one click away in transporting ourselves to the digital world; therefore, it’s essential to follow specific rules to avoid any unwanted distraction.

Set reminders

pen down your tasks

Working from home might throw you back in your comfort zone, which again can make you feel sluggish and slow. Especially when working on more significant projects, one cannot afford to forget or to skip the task; therefore, reminders act as saviours to help you keep on track.

I would recommend using google calendar or try using a reminder if you have it on your phone. You can even pen it down on a piece of paper or in a diary.

Discuss the day’s schedule with your partner/roommate

Due to the sudden lockdown, many of us got stuck and could not go back to our respective hometowns. Be it in a rented apartment in sharing or being alone, or even for the ones with families; it is better to share your working schedule and every day’s task with one another. It is time to cooperate and work, keeping in mind the other person’s comfort and situation. Divide the work so that everyone gets enough time to complete their office work as well.

Take necessary breaks in between the work

Did you know that taking breaks during work improves productivity? Yes, it is equally important as working dedicatedly. Take breaks at regular intervals and let your brain refresh, re-charge and relax. It not only leads to better performance and productivity but also helps you evaluate your work.

Whether you want to tune in to some music, listen to a podcast, take a nap, talk to a friend or do some exercises. Pick anything as per your choice and enjoy your breaks.

I hope the above tips can help you work in a much more organized and a structured way. I would love to have you guys drop down some tips if you have or share your work from home experience in the comments down below.
